david alders

david alders of Nacogdoches is president of Carrizo Creek Corporation, managing partner of Buck Bay Timber, Ltd. and manager of Caddo Farms LLC and Alders Enterprises, Ltd. He is a trustee of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, director and audit committee chair of Citizens 1st Bank, and director of the Texas forestry Association, the Texas Agricultural Land Trust, and the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he is director and former president of Nacogdoches County Farm Bureau, vice president of the board of Pineywoods Groundwater Conservation District, and a charter member of the Region I Regional Water Planning Group board. He is vice-chair of the board of Regents Academy of Nacogdoches and an elder at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Alders received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural economics from texas A&M University in 1985.

alders was appointed to the sfa board of regents in 2013 by governor rick perry and reappointed in 2019 by governor greg abbott for a second six-year term.

dr. scott h. coleman

dr. scott coleman is a dentist in private practice and a clinical adjunct assistant professor at the university of texas health science center at houston. he has lectured internationally and published articles on dental techniques and technology. he is a member of the american dental association, american academy of cosmetic dentistry, academy of general dentistry, texas dental association, american academy of cosmetic surgeons, american academy of dental practice administrators, academy of dental facial esthetics and greater houston dental society. he is also a member of the omicron kappa upsilon national dental honor society, alpha chi national academic honor society and beta beta beta national biology honor society. coleman is serving on the board of directors for the sam houston area council boy scouts of america and as a deacon and director of sunday school at second baptist church. he is a member of the baptist medical dental fellowship, give back a smile, and international medical outreach, which provide free dental care to underprivileged children. he is past president of the academy of general dentistry and past board member of the american academy of cosmetic dentistry. he is an eagle scout and has been honored by the boy scouts of america with the prestigious silver beaver award for his distinguished service. coleman received a bachelor’s degree in biology from stephen f. austin state university and earned his doctorate degree in dental surgery from the university of texas dental branch at houston.

robert a. flores

robert a. flores of nacogdoches is the chief financial officer of elliott electric supply, a leading distributor of electrical and industrial automation supplies throughout the southern states. he is a board member and secretary/treasurer for the micky elliott family foundation.

flores serves as vice chair of the nacogdoches economic development corporation and is a member of both the american institute of certified public accounts and the texas society of certified public accountants. he is a past chair of the nacogdoches medical center governing board and a previous board member of the nacogdoches rotary club.

flores received his bachelor of business administration in accounting from sfa in 1985. he was appointed as a regent by gov. greg abbott in july 2020.

alton l. frailey, chair

alton frailey is a 33 - year veteran professional educator.

frailey retired in 2016 after serving for nine years as superintendent of the nearly 74,000-student katy independent school district, near houston, texas. he has served as superintendent of the desoto independent school district near dallas, texas, and as superintendent of schools for cincinnati public schools in cincinnati, ohio.

a classroom veteran, frailey began his career working with special needs and elementary aged students in baytown, texas. he served as a building principal and in various central office positions in the spring branch independent school district in houston, texas.

frailey has held numerous professional elected leadership positions including president of the american association of school administrators (aasa), president of the texas association of school administrators (tasa), president of the urban superintendents association of america (usaa), president of the texas association of suburban/mid-urban schools (tas-mus) and chairman of the university interscholastic league legislative council.

frailey has served on numerous and various civic boards. in 1999, he was elected to the cypress-fairbanks independent school district board of trustees, which was selected as the 2002 texas honor board. in 2015 texas governor greg abbott appointed frailey to the stephen f. austin state university board of regents for a six-year term. he recently joined the flip flippen group as one of three members of the leadworthy board.

frailey graduated from stephen f. austin state university in 1983 with bachelor of science degree in elementary education and in 1985 with a master of education in educational administration.

He is currently president of Alton L. Frailey & Associates, LLC specializing in leadership development, community engagement and executive coaching.

karen g. gantt, vice chair

karen gantt of mckinney is an attorney and partner at mccraw gantt, pllc. she is a member of the state bar of texas, collin county bar association, dallas estate planning council, north texas estate planning council, and the college of the state bar of texas. in addition, she is the immediate past president of the sfa alumni association board of directors, former member of the sfa alumni foundation board of governors, and an elder at trinity presbyterian church of mckinney. gantt received a bachelor of arts in political science from sfa and a juris doctor degree from the university of texas school of law.

brigettee carnes henderson

brigettee carnes henderson of lufkin is an independent consulting interior designer and executive assistant at carnes and co. auctioneers. she is secretary of the angelina arts alliance board of directors, chair of the angelina county american cancer society’s 2011 cattle baron’s gala, and a member of the buckner family place board of directors, buckner family services circle of angels and junior league of lufkin sustainers. she is a past board member of the lufkin salvation army, museum of east texas and angelina beautiful clean. she is also past president of the junior league of lufkin and past president of the angelina county aggie mother’s club. henderson received two bachelor’s degrees from stephen f. austin state university.

m. thomas mason, secretary

tom mason of dallas is executive vice president and chief financial officer of hillwood development co, llc. he is a board member of caruth village homeowners’ association and an officer of the land-hyland scholarship fund, woodrow wilson high school class of 1966. he is a former member of the urban land institute, the real estate council, and the real estate financial executives association. mason received an honorable discharge from the united states army reserves and received a bachelor of science in math and general business from sfa. while attending sfa, he was a member of phi delta theta social fraternity, sophomore class vice president, chairman of greek week activities, and elected to who’s who among american colleges and universities.

judy larson olson

term ends: 2025judy larson olson

judy larson olson of the woodlands is the woodlands market president of spirit of texas bank. she is a partner in the woodlands area economic development partnership and current chair of the montgomery county casa board of directors. she is the immediate past president of the rotary club of the woodlands, where she was named a paul harris fellow.

Olson is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery County, and an advisory board member of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, where she was recognized as “Trailblazer” in 2017. She received a Bachelor of arts in communications from sfa and a Master of Business Administration from texas A&M University.

in 2019 texas governor greg abbott appointed olson to the stephen f. austin state university board of regents for a six-year term.

jennifer wade winston

jennifer wade winstonterm ends: 2025

a community volunteer and self-employed businesswoman, jennifer “jenn” wade winston of lufkin is a former adjunct faculty member at sfa. she is a pilot, type rated in a jet. she is a parent volunteer at st. cyprians’ episcopal school and a board member and volunteer at nacogdoches county historical society. she is a former board member of the humane society of angelina county and a former volunteer at oak creek center.

winston received a bachelor of business administration in finance from sfa and was appointed in 2019 by governor greg abbott as a member of the sfa board of regents for a six-year term.

ireland bramhall - student regent

ireland bramhall, a hospitality administration senior from ennis, texas, has been appointed by gov. greg abbott as the university’s student regent beginning june 2020.

during her time at sfa, bramhall has participated in numerous student organizations on campus. she was a member of freshman leadership academy her first semester at sfa and now serves as an ambassador for sfa’s school of human sciences.

since 2017, bramhall has helped produce the big event, nacogdoches county’s largest day of community service. she has served as assistant director of community relations and is now on her second term as student director of community engagement. in addition, she participates in sfa dance marathon, which raises funds for the children’s miracle network hospital in tyler, texas.

in spring 2019, bramhall completed an internship at walt disney world. upon graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in student affairs in higher education.
